Happy 6 Months!!

We can hardly believe that Aaden is already 6 months. He has been such a joy to watch grow and develop to this point. Some highlights: rolling over (mostly from back to tummy), beginning to eat solid food (rice cereal, bananas, green beans), eat his toes, suck his thumb, copies sounds like "oh" or "ba" to name a few. He's also recently become fascinated by Emma our dog. While Emma remains indifferent to him, Aaden loves when Emma passes by or flips her long tail hair across his face...makes him laugh. He's been sleeping 12-13 hours at night and is happy to go to bed, which is so nice! He remains a very happy and content little boy. His Daddy and I are so thankful for him and can't imagine life before him. Enjoy some pictures from his 6 month day!

His first experience with grass, not so sure - closely followed by grabbing it between his fingers and toes!

Then lounging casually in it...

...and a kissy fest from Mama!

Tonight's dinner included green beans for the first time...not bad!

Tuesdays with Grandma Renee

We love Tuesdays around here. Grandma Renee comes and takes care of Aaden. She also generously cleans our house and makes us dinner. It is such a gift to have her be close enough to help and give us a "day off" and be able to relax with our boy when we get home from work. Today Aunt Lacey joined her and helped give haircuts too! Thanks Grandma and Auntie! We love you!!

Aaden has started teething too, so a nice cool teether is always welcome!

Weekend Update

Hey all,

We had a relaxing and productive weekend. I ended up taking a half day off on Friday and surprising the family (as you probably know based on a previous post). It was like having a three day weekend!

I had lunch with Terry Mensonides, a friend of mine from middle school, high school, and college, on Friday afternoon. We got to talking about our new raised bed garden and how to keep things warm and wet. He asked if I had ever seen the technique used by some farmers where they cover sections of their fields with clear plastic tarps to retain heat and moisture.

After our lunch I got an idea to build a greenhouse out of materials I could find at the hardware store. I didn't want to spend a lot of money (less than $50) or a lot of time (less than 3 hours). So I decided to see what I could create using PVC pipe and fittings, clear plastic drop cloth, and duck tape.

Granted, it looks kinda ghetto, but I think it works. I went outside today and checked on things and I found that there was moisture all over the interior which means two things: I had enough heat for evaporation and that the moisture was trapped! This is great, considering today's high was 57 F.

When I went inside to see the family I saw these:

Yay! Oatmeal raisin cookies!

Aaden also found his toes.

I Love Daddy!

Aaden's shirt says it all!

An Afternoon with Dad!

To our great surprise Dad came home from work early after lunch with a friend. We were so happy that we decided to take a stroll at the Mill Creek Town Center. Our stroll was complete with iced drinks, a cookie, stopping to look at the GIANT toads (there are two in the picture above if you look closely) and a trip to Pier1. We had great fun today, even made it to Lowes and out to dinner at Azteca. We wish every Friday could be this beautiful and fun. Thanks for hanging out with us Daddy!

Sunny Spring Friday!

Well we have to start somewhere, why not today!? Aaden and I are enjoying the beautiful spring day and loving being outside.

Welcome to the Dobelstein Daily! I know it says daily, but don't expect daily updates--daily just flowed well. Anywho, check back for stuff about us in the future!
