Ferry Ride!

Today was another gorgeous fall day and seeing as those sunny days are numbered we decided to take advantage of it. I was thrilled to have a relaxing Sunday with my boys so suggested we do something fun. We headed down to Mukilteo and parked at the Ferry Terminal, bought tickets and walked on board. It was meant to be, the ferry was just loading and within minutes we were off. I packed us a picnic lunch to eat on the other side. The short 10 minute ferry ride was great, we got out to the stern of the ship, took the token windy pictures with our boy and watched the seagulls fly along side the boat. Once we reached Whigbey Island, we walked off and headed to the beach. There was a perfect little park right off the ferry terminal with tables and a great view. We had a nice lunch (homemade bread, salami, cheese, yogurt and bananas)...the boys favorites! After about an hour we decided it was time to head back, but not before we bought an ice cream cone to share. The boat was waiting for us once again and we were able to jump right on board back home. $5 parking, $7 ferry tickets, $1.50 ice cream cone, a day with the family: priceless! A cheap "stay-cation" as my husband would say!

So windy!

2nd Swim Class

Aaden and I just got home from our 2nd swim class. We were thrilled that Daddy was able to come and watch before he headed off to work. He snapped a few cute photos and some great videos too! The boy worked hard on splashing today and getting his face wet. He's a very serious little swimmer, but we got some smiles here and there.

All smiles before class started!

Serious boy, gearing up for splashing!

Loving it (of course before class)!

While we were out...

Kristofer and I miss a lot of Aaden's activities while we are at work. We were thankful today that Grandma Renee and Aunt Lacey took lots of pictures and videos of Aaden so we can have a peek into his day. Man do we miss our sweet boy during our busy days! Here are some of my favorites:

Swim Lessons & Cakes!

Despite the rainy fall day we had a fun time today! This morning Daddy went off for his monthly Dobelstein boy breakfast down in South Seattle (with his brother and dad). Aaden and I got ready and headed to his first swim lesson at the Y. We went with our friends Claire and Finn. The boys, while on the young side of the class, had a great time. I think they were the best swimmers there! We sang songs, splashed in the water and used our big arms to swim after our ducky toys. We are already looking forward to next weekend! Thankfully Finn's dad and sister came along to take pictures, I'll attach a few of their's (thanks Gilfillans!)

This afternoon we hung out with Daddy and went on two cake deliveries with him. Today was his first day delivering cakes for 3 different clients. Both he and his brother now deliver for a neat place in Redmond, Mike's Amazing Cakes. You should check out their website, they truly are AMAZING cakes! Needless to say, it is nice to have the extra income and the bonus is we can spend time as a family on occasion while he's working!

We got home around 7:30pm and Aaden did wonderfully in the car. Ate dinner, took a nap and enjoyed singing with his dad.

Truly blessed!

One of those weeks...

Works been crazy for both of us and too many things needed to be taken care of around/for the house so most days were extra LONG! On top of that Aaden decided for a week straight to not really nap, so that made coming home from work even harder. He was one grumpy and tired boy.

Thankfully we are back on track, and hoping for a better weekend and week next week.

We'll get around to more updates soon as new adventures are right around the corner (Aaden starts swim lessons tomorrow, daddy starts a new weekend job tomorrow and hopefully life will be calmer for Mom)!

A Sunny Walk

I couldn't get enough of the good weather yesterday (or today), so I decided it was a must that we walk around Greenlake. We live no where near the lovely place, but I drive by it on my way home from work every day and am always a bit jealous of the walkers and joggers there. So I packed us up after Aaden's morning nap and lunch and headed out. It was 85, so a bit warm, but brought plenty of water and hats. We walked 1/2 way around and then came back, so I supposed it ended up being the entire 3 miles, ha! Aaden did great and chatted most of the way. I snapped a picture of us finished and headed back to the car.

We were sweaty and a bit tired, but good! Unfortunately our afternoon nap was horrible (25 minutes) and had a hard time going to bed. I think he had too much fun!

We're hoping to head to Martha Lake (by our house) today when Daddy gets home from work. Must eat up this warm weather while it is still here!

Labor Day Weekend

We had a nice three day weekend, and enjoyed have three days all together. We headed to Portland to visit my parents and enjoy the rainy weekend together. We visited Aaden's great grandparents, played on the swings at their house, went out to dinner, went for walks, church and the outlet mall (crazy)! I got some good deals at Carter's (everything 50% off) and Gymborie (my favorite was a knit pumpkin hat).

When we got home last night Daddy told Aaden it was time for bed. He promptly scaled our entire flight of stairs (no small feat, they are really steep!!). So cute, he wanted to put himself to bed, today he scaled the stairs 5 times. A big week...and 5th and 6th teeth, thus the really red cheeks that plague my boy when his teeth are cutting.

I'm not all that great at taking pictures when I'm at home with my family. My mom is always better at remembering, but I haven't gotten her pictures yet. Here are some of mine...

Enjoying Nana's play table

Spinning a top, so good at the little things.

Loved Great Gramma's Rex doggy. He didn't run away like Aaden's doggy. Notice the gentle paw pat. If only Emma would allow him to touch her! :-)

Sneaky Boy

I love Friday! Although the boy woke up for good around 6:30am we were able to have good snuggle time this morning. I then made blueberry pancakes for the both of us. He loved watching me and sneaking bites as hot cakes came off the stove. After breakfast and while I was doing the dishes Aaden made a getaway with his sippy cup. Here's where I found him...

Clever boy was on the third stair hanging out casually. Note the left arm resting on the upper stair. Silly!

All Smiles

Just a sweet photo Grandma Renee' took while caring for Aaden today. I love getting text messages like this one in the middle of my hectic work day, makes everything just melt away. What a sweet boy!
