Independence Day

Despite the dismal weather on the 4th of July this year, we had a great time. We hosted Kristofer's and my parents, Tim & Lacey, their friend Michelle, Tim's parents' & sister Lisa, and Kristofer's Aunt Kim & cousin Sara. It was fun to have a the house full of people. We played festive music, ate lots of red, white & blue Jell-O and BBQ'd hamburgers with homemade buns ala Kristofer. One highlight of the afternoon was the assembly of Aaden's new sandbox courtesy of Grandpa & Gramma.

Tim & Lacey live up in Arlington now and invited us up to the town's annual duck race. We all piled into the cars and went up to their place in the evening. {People buy tickets for duckies and literally thousands of rubber ducks are thrown in the the Stiliguamish river and whose-ever crosses the finish line first wins.} We missed the actual race but saw the massive "catch" effort take place afterwards. A fun and quirky evening.

After the race we headed back home and proceeded to watch nearly 4 hours of firework displays from our bedroom window. No need to sit in the cold and watch a 15 minute display, our neighborhood is crazy!

Here are a few pictures to highlight -

*Note the yellow line of ducks being snared by a net...many were not caught*
